New central defender comes from Italy

Chelsea FC has found a replacement for the emigrated DFB star Antonio Rüdiger. Kalidou Koulibaly closes the gap in the central defense of the “Blues”.

Senegalese central defender Kalidou Koulibaly is moving from SSC Napoli to Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in the Premier League. As the German coach’s club announced on Saturday, the 31-year-old signed a four-year contract for a fee of around 40 million euros.

“It’s a big team in the world and my dream has always been to play in the Premier League,” said Koulibaly. He spent the last eight seasons with Napoli in Serie A and won the Italian Cup in 2020. As captain, he also won the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal in February.
