A new -build house had an average sales value of more than 504,000 euros in the first quarter. An existing home also became more expensive: the prices of existing owner -occupied homes rose by almost 11 percent. The average sales value of such a home was 470,000 euros.

House prices in the Netherlands are rising faster than average in Europe. The average price increase of new construction and existing construction together was 10.7 percent in our country compared to last year. That is well above the European average of 5.7 percent.

More sold

The total number of new -build homes sold increased by more than a quarter in the first three months of this year compared to a year ago. Almost 6200 newly built owner -occupied homes were sold in the first quarter, more than 28 percent more than in the same period last year.

It is the sixth quarter in a row that the number of new -build homes sold is increasing. Almost 16 percent more were sold from existing owner -occupied homes. Earlier it was announced that the number of building permits issued for homes in the first quarter had fallen again, after a revival last year. With that, according to the CBS, there are not enough homes for the time being to be added to meet the enormous demand for houses.
