New bad news for national handball player Berger

Bitter diagnosis for Amelie Berger: The national handball player has torn her cruciate ligament again.

For the right winger, the dream of the Summer Olympics in Paris is shattered. Berger’s club HSG Bensheim/Auerbach announced the findings and the resulting end to the season on Thursday.

Berger sustained the injury in a Bundesliga game at Sport-Union Neckarsulm at the weekend.

“The necessary treatment steps are still pending,” explained her club. The now 24-year-old tore her right anterior cruciate ligament two years ago, and this time the left knee is affected.

The selection of the German Handball Federation (DHB) still has to qualify for the Olympic tournament in France at a qualification tournament in April.
