To encourage employers to hire more status holders, the subsidy scheme ‘Support employers deployment status holders’ (SOWIS) was opened last year. A new application round will be prepared for 2025 that will be opened on 2 June 2025. Employers who are eligible can already register via the Subsidy portal.

The SOWIS subsidy scheme offers employers financial support to guide status holders in the workplace and helps to bridge language and culture differences. After the first opening round in September 2024, a number are changes implemented for the second opening round. For example, more status holders will be able to qualify and the period for applications will be extended from 1 to 4 months. This year 3 million euros has been made available.

The SOWIS subsidy can be requested for status holders who have entered the service after December 2, 2024, or for status holders who have not been employed before. The subsidy can be requested for a maximum of four status holders, up to an amount of 24,000 euros.
