Exactly 28 years ago the last Elfstedentocht was held. And it will probably remain the last for decades to come. “For the time being, we can only dream of this skating event,” says meteorologist Berend van Straaten of Weeronline. The freezing cold is often not the problem, the snow is. Just drop it next night.
