The price of a Netflix premium subscription is about to rise to $25.
Netflix again announced price increases in several countries. The price increase is justified by investing in improving the platform and creating added value for the customer.
The price increases apply to the United States, Canada, Portugal and Argentina, but they foreshadow future changes elsewhere as well.
The Verge According to the information received from Netflix, the price of the cheapest ad-laden subscription package is going up from $6.99 to $7.99 per month. Without ads, the same package used to cost $15.49, now $17.99 per month.
The price of the most expensive premium package rises from $22.99 to as much as $24.99 per month. The price increases will take effect already in the subscribers’ next payment cycle.
This is the first time that Netflix has ended up raising the pricing of the partially advertising-funded subscription category. At the same time, a new subscription option is coming to the ad-financed subscription category, which allows the viewer to add one household outside their own household to their subscription.
At the same time, the streaming service has revealed that its number of subscribers has risen to 300 million. Over the years, Netflix has expanded its content coverage to include movies and series as well as games that users can download to their mobile devices. In addition, the service has started streaming live content on its platform.
Netflix last raised its prices in Finland in October 2024, so with an extremely fast schedule, a new price increase is hardly in sight.
However, it is entirely possible that the price increase in the United States will sooner or later also arrive in Finland, where the monthly subscription pricing is currently as follows:
Basic: €9.49/month
Standard: €13.99/month
Premium: €17.99/month
So far, Netflix has not brought an ad-financed monthly subscription option to Finland.
