In April, it will be ten years since the arrival of the Apple Watch smart watch on the market. At first, the device was marketed more as a communication device, but since then it has gained an established user base as an aid for exercise and sports.

As the anniversary approaches, the company’s employee has shed light on how the company once misjudged how different people would use the device.

of The Independent in an interview with Apple’s vice president of sports technology Jay Blahnik says that the company thought the Apple Watch would mostly confirm people’s previous tendencies.

– We might have thought that less athletic people would focus on their day, while athletic people would focus on their sports performance, Blahnik tells The Independent.

However, for some users it was quite different.

Users who got the Apple Watch on their wrist could surprisingly become much more active than before. On the other hand, users used to hard training used the device to make their days healthier.

Techradar points out that Apple has added more wellness-related features to the Apple Watch in recent years. For example, the devices encourage their users to also take rest days.

During the current year, Apple Watches are apparently still getting more wellness-related features.

According to Techradar, the upcoming Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Series 11 models will probably be able to track their wearer’s blood pressure. Apple is also busy trying to figure out how to monitor a user’s blood glucose level in a non-invasive way.
