The Boston Celtics are about to end in the NBA playoffs after the third defeat against the New York Knicks. Celtics, Jayson Tatum was injured that after Steph Curry and Donovan Mitchell, he could be the next star that fails in the playoffs.
The champion from Boston lost the fourth game of the Conference semi-final at the New York Knicks with 113: 121 on Monday evening (May 12, 2025) and fell into deficiency in the best-of-Seven series. The Knicks are therefore only missing a victory to move back to the Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years.
Boston, on the other hand, now needs three victories in a row to prevent it, and would have to play at least once again in the Madison Sqaure Garden. To catch up with a 1: 3 deficit in this playoff format, the Cleveland Cavaliers recently managed this in the final series against Golden State.
It is more than questionable whether Boston’s leader Jayson can help Jayson Tatum. The superstar injured his right ankle in a duel three minutes before the end, limped from the field after treatment and was driven through the catacombs in a wheelchair. The 27-year-old kept holding his hands in front of his face and seemed to have great pain. He had scored 42 points until his early end, and in the end he was the top scorer of the game.
An MRI examination should provide information on how severely the injury is. “At the moment I’m just worried about Jayson. “The game today, that’s why we take care of it later. I just hope it’s nothing bad”said Center Al Horford. “We lost our leader. We just have to stand together as a team and find a solution.”
There was also support from the opponent: “I pray for him”Knicks-Center said Karl-Anthony Towns. “I hope he will come back quickly.”
Brunson leads Knicks to the next comeback
Tatum’s injury fit a used evening for the Celtics, which for the third time played a comfortable lead in the series. Boston was ahead with 11 points at the break, but the Knicks once again showed their comeback qualities, which they can get really far in the playoffs. Led by Jalen Brunson, who heralded the next strong catch -up of the Knicks with 18 points alone in the third quarter.
In the final phase, the kinks pulled in front of their enthusiastic fans in the garden, then away. Mikal Bridges (23 points) and OG Anunoby (20) scored important points in the crunch-time. Brunson, who had a total of 39 points, then made two and a half minutes before the end with a three for the 12-point lead and thus for the preliminary decision.
Also Warriors before the end – curry further injured
For the Golden State Warriors, it looks just as dark as for the Celtics. In their semi-final series, the Warriors are now also 1: 3 behind the 110-117 defeat against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and now even have to win game 5 away to avert the impending playoff. Superstar Steph Curry has been injured in the Warriors since the opening game, without their leader lost the Warriors three games in a row since then. Curry is stopped by a thigh injury that he could be back in a game 6 at the earliest, should it make golden state until then.
Cavs worry about Donovan Mitchell
The injuries to star players apparently do not remain without effects in this year’s playoffs, after Curry now also threatens Bostons Jayson Tatum. The Cleveland Cavaliers, the best team in the east, also drags itself through the playoffs. Her leader, Donovan Mitchell, also ended the game four against the Indiana Pacers prematurely with an ankle injury, and his use in game five is questionable. Like Boston, the CAVS are 1: 3 behind – for the two top teams in the east, the season could soon be over.
