Eleven years after the launch of The Last of Us, Naughty Dog is ready for a new adventure, an unpublished and sci-fi intellectual property.
The biggest surprise of The Game Awards 2024 might be Naughty Dog’s announcement of a new game that isn’t a remake of one of its previous titles: Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is a retro sci-fi RPG starring bounty hunters and the studio’s first new IP since The Last of Us in 2013.
The history of Intergalactic —
Set 2,000 years in the future, the game is a semi-open world RPG like Star Wars Outlaws, so there are several open hub areas to explore and adventure from instead of one giant map. The premise appears to be that a religious cult issued a prophecy about an “enlightened” planet that existed in ancient times. In the future, this planet is discovered, mysterious things continue to happen there, such as the interruption of communications and the failure of explorers who venture there. Spaceships playable on PS5 —
In Intergalactic players will have their own spaceship at their disposal – an elegant-looking spaceship similar to a sports car, not surprisingly branded Porsche – and the soundtrack of the title was created by the acclaimed duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross . The protagonist is the bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun, played by Tati Gabrielle, busy trying to escape the orbit of this planet – if she succeeded, it would be the first in 600 years. Intergalactic is confirmed for PS5, but no other platforms or a launch date have been announced. The game has been in development since 2020, and in the trailer we saw not only space navigation but also melee combat on alien planets.
