After the 4-0 win against Finland, a German national player receives an unusual compliment from a TV expert – who then explains exactly what he means.
Two goals, one assist: Deniz Undav was the outstanding man in the 4-0 (1-0) win against Finland in the German national team’s last home game before the World Cup. Scored 1-0 in the first half (34′), then set up Florian Wirtz to make it 2-0 after the break (48′) – and then scored the interim 3-0 himself (57′).

And ZDF expert Christoph Kramer was particularly impressed by this goal – who was carried away with a bizarre comparison. Undav prevailed in a duel with Finland defender Ryan Mahuta before scoring, then fired past goalkeeper Lukáš Hrádecký. Kramer praised him after the game: “This is perhaps the most underestimated quality of Deniz Undav, that he cannot be ignored,” said the ex-national player.
And then: “I played against him a few times myself, so in the most positive sense he’s a little wild boar, you can’t get rid of him,” said Kramer. He further explained: “He has such a strong core and to stop in that situation and push it over the line – it’s not that easy.” Undav is “a very, very good player when it comes to the box because he is simply very, very stable and stays calm.”
Kramer also raved about the VfB Stuttgart striker’s ability to finish: “I also like his resting heart rate, that he doesn’t do anything hastily. He always finishes with great concentration and is calm because he knows: no one can bother me, even if I’m bumped into. He does that very well.”
The two goals in the game were Undav’s fifth and sixth in only his eighth international match. Christoph Kramer’s description will also be remembered.
