TSG 1899 Hoffenheim has committed the Norwegian international Leo Ostigard. The central defender comes on a loan from Stade Rennes.
“With Leo, we found a central defender with the qualities we were looking for at the home stretch of the winter transfers period,” TSG Managing Director Sport Andreas Schicker is quoted in a press release from the association. Despite his young age, Ostigard is already an internationally experienced player, it is said. In fact, the 25-year-old has already brought the experience from England, France and Italy. In 2023, the Norwegian celebrated the Italian championship with SSC Naples and became a regular in the following season. Previously, he had put together his soccer shoes for Brighton, Stoke and Genoa.
Germany is also not unknown to Ostigard: in the 2019/20 season, the defender was 28 times for FC St. Pauli in the 2nd Bundesliga on the lawn (1 goal). In July 2024, Leo Ostigard from the traditional Italian club SSC Naples moved to the French first division club Stade Rennes. In the current season, the 25 -year -old central defender played a total of 18 competitive games for the French in Ligue 1 and the French Cup competition (1 goal).

Since his debut for the Norwegian national team in March 2022 against Slovakia, Ostigard has so far completed 28 international matches for the selection team of the Scandinavians (1 gate). Previously, the central defender already went through all youth selection teams in his home country.
“He is an uncompromising defender who does not avoid a duel. That is why we are convinced that Leo will give our game the desired stability,” says Schicker, looking forward to the newcomer.
