It’s time to roll up your sleeves! During the National Nature Work Days on Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1, you will get to work in the green. Zoetermeer’s nature also awaits enthusiastic helpers who are not afraid to get a little dirty.

There are more than five hundred jobs spread across the country. Think of planting bulbs, pollarding willows, building insect hotels, cleaning ponds, making hedgerows and much more.

Mud on your shoes is guaranteed, but you also get a good dose of fresh air and satisfaction in return. In this way you contribute to a greener and healthier Netherlands and who knows, you might secretly discover that you are quite handy with a shovel.

  • In the Hof van Seghwaert Pear Orchard you can help with pruning, gardening and renovating the children’s playground on Saturday, November 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is also work in the bee garden for enthusiasts. Children are welcome to participate. You can find more information here.
  • On Saturday, November 1, in the Zoetermeer Nature Garden you can help with extra maintenance jobs that regular volunteers do not have time to do. Consider removing mown reeds, raising paths and removing invasive plants. The garden work day is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can find more information here.

The National Nature Working Days are an initiative of the provincial Landscape Management Organizations and LandschappenNL. These days have been taking place on the first Friday and Saturday of November for 25 years. The nature jobs contribute to the habitat of many animals and plants, including endangered species.
