Munich (AP) – National goalkeeper Almuth Schult would like to end her career at VfL Wolfsburg with a DFB Cup success.
The 31-year-old, who is moving to US soccer club Angel City FC after this season, is with her team in the final on May 28 in Cologne after beating FC Bayern Munich 3-1 (1-0) in the semi-finals. “I want to stop here in Germany with a win in the DFB Cup,” said Schult in an ARD interview. “We also have a few fingers on the championship trophy, that’s outstanding.”
In the Bundesliga, Wolfsburg are four points ahead of their rivals Munich and are clearly on course for the title. The VfL players are also dreaming of the Champions League final on May 21 in Turin. However, defending champions FC Barcelona are favorites before the semi-final first leg on Friday. Over 90,000 spectators are expected at Camp Nou. When asked about the possible treble, Schult said with a smile: “I’ll take it if someone presents it to me.”

The 2016 Olympic champion and the women from Wolfsburg can now win the trophy for the eighth time in a row. The final opponent will be determined on Monday (6.30 p.m. / Sky) between Bayer Leverkusen and Turbine Potsdam.
