PSV player Xavi Simons, Bjorn Meijer of Club Brugge and Mees Hilgers of FC Twente have been included by national coach Erwin van de Looi in the provisional selection of the Dutch Juniors for the next two exhibition games against their peers from Belgium (23 September) and Romania (27 September). Meijer went from FC Groningen to Bruges in the past transfer period. After four rounds, 19-year-old Simons, together with teammate Cody Gakpo, is joint top scorer in the Eredivisie with six goals. The 19-year-old Meijer, a defender, immediately became a permanent fixture at Club Brugge. Hilgers is in his third season in the A-selection at Twente.
Van de Looi included 29 players in his provisional group. In two weeks, the national coach will announce his final selection of 23 men.
The Dutch Juniors will participate in the European Championships in Georgia and Romania next summer.
