Natasja Froger was severely banned by RTL 4 in the spring. According to her husband René, she was not treated carefully by the channel, but what does she think?
While most senior celebrities are constantly lying on a treatment table somewhere to have themselves tightened for their next TV appearance, Natasja Froger simply remains herself. With her extremely concerned, almost pained facial expressions, she helps one candidate after another in her involved assistance programs.
Natasja fell out
You would think that you would want someone like that in your star stable. Well, no, says RTL 4 boss Peter van der Vorst. He simply outwitted Natasja at the channel in the spring. Her program For the Same Money has been hijacked by Leonie ter Braak, fifteen years her junior. Saves some wrinkles, but also a lot of character.
Even at home, Peter has been criticized for this decision; According to Luuk Ikink, as a family channel you also need seniority. According to diversity campaigner Janneke van Heugten, it is clear what is going on here: age discrimination. In no time Natasja has now got a job at major competitor SBS 6.
Not treated well?
According to René Froger, RTL 4 ‘didn’t handle her with enough care’ and Natasja doesn’t deserve that: “Of course certain things hurt her. I also hate it when it hits her. Natasja is so natural and honest. I know very few people who are so themselves.”
What does Natasja actually think of it? She is asked about it by Story, but deliberately keeps it short and sweet: “I thought that was really non-news. My contract had ended a long time ago and I was working on a program basis. I also didn’t understand what everyone was so concerned about. Sweet, but unnecessary.”
Redundant
It is clear that Natasja has absolutely no desire to start throwing mud. She keeps her eyes on the future. “I will continue to make television. At TLC and for SBS 6 we start with Bonje met de Buren. I’m not bored.”
Natasja’s co-host in the new Bonje series is Dennis van der Geest. It is not yet clear when the new series will premiere.
