Nance Coolen appeared on the tube again two and a half years after her TV deposit at Eva Jinek, this time at Shownieuws. There she reveals where it actually went wrong with Gerard Joling …
Nance Coolen was a presentation duo with Gerard Joling on SBS 6 for years. It was not possible: they scored high viewing figures with each other season after season. But then a new wind started to blow at the TV station, Nance had to relocate and it was not that good at her next employer RTL 4. And now we don’t see it anymore.
Nance is back
In the end, Nance decided to resume her singing career and two and a half years ago she was allowed to perform in the talk show of Eva Jinek. That went so badly that she was laughed at in today in Inside.
Now Nance dares to show herself again, because last night she was in Shownieuwswhere it is celebrated this week that SBS 6 has been around for thirty years. Her TV height? “Dancing stars on the ice. Immediately. You can really wake me up for that. I thought that was so magical. I thought it was really fantastic that you can put an ice rink in a studio.”
What is she doing now?
What is Nance doing now? “Oh, I am very busy. I am busier than ever. Well, I sing at Twenty 4 Seven, I have my own music school in the Gooi, in Naarden, so I have a lot of students who all take lessons. I do vocal coaching. And I also live part -time in a care home in Loosdrecht. I think that’s super fun.”
Twente 4 Seven is the group of Nance that entertains to hits from the past. “We are very busy, especially in the summer months when the festivals are there, we fly from hot to her. Coincidentally this weekend we are three performances. We are normally abroad. Germany, Slovakia and this year Austria a lot too.”
Gerard-fight
Can Nance now, all those years later, reveal why there were always so many rumors about Bonje with her then co-host Gerard Joling? “Well, I really experienced very nice times with Geer, but I didn’t find it easy for me in the beginning, because I was just learning so much about presenting.”
“Sometimes I really thought: how can I deal with him? And Gerard is just there. He comes in and he does his thing. He has a lot of it. In the beginning it was a bit of: how do you do that? I had a coach and he said,” Do you know? Let him go well! When I found that mode, Geer and I went like a rocket. “
Encountered
The two have recently come across each other, says Nance. “Yes, I recently came across him at a performance and then it was right again old-boy-chuckle bread. It immediately feels good again. You hold each other and you immediately think: this feels good, we can do this together.”
Does she miss TV? “I think that is a difficult question. It is asked very often and I can never give an answer to it. When I am sitting here, I think: well, it feels nice to sit here once, but I have to say that with what I do now apart from TV, I really feel at my happiest, but never say never.”
