The Berlin national basketball player Satou Sabally was honored by the North American basketball league WNBA for her exceptional achievements this season. In her third season in the WNBA, Sabally, who was born in New York City but grew up in Berlin, had finally developed into one of the best basketball players in the WNBA and therefore in the world. Sabally, who spent large parts of her basketball youth at TuS Lichterfelde, was the ninth-best scorer in the WNBA last season with an average of 18.6 points per game, the tenth-best rebounder with 8.1 rebounds and 13th place in the league with 2.1 basket assists List of players with the most assists.
Given these numbers, Sabally, whose younger sister Nyara Sabally is also active in the WNBA, was recently voted the WNBA’s most improved player. No German player has ever received both this award and being named one of the five best players in a WNBA season before Satou Sabally.
