The national soccer coach is only allowed to appoint 23 professionals to his matchday squad. That’s why two professionals won’t be there in Belfast.

The German national team traveled to Belfast with a squad of 23 players. The DFB announced this on Sunday. The next World Cup qualifier for national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team will take place in the Northern Irish capital on Monday evening. There is a live ticker on t-online from 8:45 p.m.

Jamie Leweling had already left the team headquarters in Herzogenaurach on Saturday due to adductor problems. But the Stuttgart player is not the only professional who will miss the game against Northern Ireland.

Nagelsmann is without Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu. He suffered a blow to his right knee and was unable to take part in the final training session on Sunday morning.

Kevin Schade also didn’t make it into the squad. The Brentford professional, who was called up after Leweling’s absence, was not in the squad for the 4-0 win against Luxembourg on Friday in Sinsheim. According to the regulations, Nagelsmann is only allowed to nominate 23 players for a matchday squad.
