NAC Breda trainer Robert Molenaar picks up Alex Plat for free at FC Volendam

Alex Plat has found a new club. The player who had an expiring contract with FC Volendam will play football at NAC Breda. There, the 24-year-old midfielder is reunited with former Volendam coach Robert Molenaar.

De Volendammer signs a two-year contract in Breda, with an option for a third year. “I am very happy to make the step to this great club,” says Plat on the NAC Breda website. “Almost thirteen thousand season tickets have already been sold, of course you don’t see that anywhere in the Kitchen Champion Division. I am therefore very much looking forward to playing in the yellow-black in the Rat Verlegh Stadium and taking the left kick.”

NAC Breda was looking for a supporting force in midfield. Technical director Eric Hellemons says he has now found the one with Plat. “We see in Alex a young, yet experienced midfielder. With Alex we attract a midfielder who wants to play football forward and who is a connector in the build-up phase. In addition, Alex is technically and tactically skilled, which means he can be important to the team.”

FC Volendam

Plat made his debut in the first of FC Volendam in 2017 after he completed the youth academy. Since Wim Jonk took office, he got to play a lot. He missed just three games in the 2020/21 season. In the past six months he got a bit sidetracked in Volendam. In total, Plat played 108 official games for FC Volendam, in which he provided eleven assists.
