The N34 was closed for a short time tonight between the Emmen-Noord and Odoorn exits due to a burning car. For unknown reasons, a convertible caught fire while driving.
The driver was able to get out of the car in time and was not injured. A large amount of smoke was released during the fire. The road was temporarily closed due to extinguishing and salvage work. Firefighters had the fire under control quickly and the car was able to be removed. The N34 was then reopened. However, part of the road surface must be repaired. Traffic will be directed past these works.
