Music world reacts to the loss of the blue hook

On Thursday (April 20), many Twitter users lost their blue tick, which marks a profile’s status as verified. The blue tick is now only reserved for those who “TwitterBlue” subscribe for $8 per month. Some musicians reacted to the loss of the hook, with some apparently immediately realizing what had happened and others taking it by surprise.

One of the surprised was St Vincent. “Where the F did my blue tick go?” wrote the singer.

Apparently she was quickly made aware of the innovation. Because a short time later she tweeted in which she expressed her lack of understanding for this measure. “You’re really telling me to pay for staying in a plush hellhole?” She thought the “brilliant, collective thinking, time, attention and resulting depression and anxiety” would be payment, the “Los Angeles” singer continued.

Also Charlie XCX lost her blue hook. The unverified status fits her image, the 30-year-old wrote in a tweet. “Officially no longer a verified artist. I love being unofficial and unverified. C’est moi.”

The Indie Twins Tegan and Sara are now also among the unverified musicians on Twitter. The two apparently have no plans to pay for a hook. And that regardless of the fact, that rihannafor which Sara is particularly fond, that does.

Most people should know the singer-songwriter Nija, even without a blue tick. The 25-year-old, who is already with Beyonce, Summer Walker and others made it clear on Twitter that she would not spend any money on “Twitter Blue”. “Blue tick gone and I’ll be damned if I pay for it,” she wrote on Twitter.

“Hook off, but the checks keep coming!” This pun, which works a lot better in English, was posted by rapper The Game in response to the lost hook.
