Schouwburg Ogterop, the Vegafabriek in Kolderveen and the Meppel Music Cooperative will collaborate in the field of music. The parties do not want to get in each other’s way with bookings and with a joint website there should be more attention for live music in the city.
“We do a lot of the same things as pop venues and that way we got into talking with each other,” says chairman Michiel de Boer of Music Cooperative Meppel. “We were already programming very nice things together in the background. We must also be able to show that in the foreground. That is how the website was created. We want to show more clearly that Meppel is making a lot of progress in the field of music. The city must become more of a music city become known.”
It is a collaboration between so-called ‘competition colleagues’. A useful collaboration, says De Boer. “You sometimes have two locations that want to book the same band, because that band may combine a theater tour and a club tour. This collaboration can prevent that. At the same time, our activities become more visible.”
In addition to performances in Ogterop and the Vegafabriek, cafés also organize live performances. For the time being, these will not be included in the agenda on the website. “At the moment we have no plans to broaden the collaboration,” said the chairman of the Meppel Music Cooperative.
