“We are all in shock,” says Yorwin Diaz Chaves. He was recently on stage with William, who regularly acted as Dragqueen Alyssa. “It’s really terrible, I still can’t believe it,” he says with tears in his eyes. “He was super sweet, a good friend and very talented. He always had a good energy hanging around him.”
Residence permit
Willliam fled Venezuela because of his orientation. He recently received a residence permit. “He just started a new life, a life in freedom and then it ends this way, that is very tragic,” says Sandro Kortekaas of LGBT Asylum Support.
Kortekaas is committed to LGBTQ asylum seekers who regularly have to deal with violence. He also helped William finding a safe place. “Whether his death has to do with this? That is speculation, but I hope that people who know more report to the police.”
