The municipality of Opmeer has immediately imposed a detection ban. It is feared that after the unique medieval find, detection seekers will start searching the grounds en masse.

The statement reads, among other things: “Detecting the metal find material with a detector is a popular pastime among hobby treasure hunters. To prevent detection seekers from searching private and municipal grounds, the municipality of Opmeer has a total ban on detection without certificate.”
People who ignore the new rule and still search the grounds with detection seekers will face a fine.
