The municipality of Waalwijk reacts disappointed to the cancellation of the Night of the Song of Life. They say that the event has been canceled with them without consulting them, so to speak for security risks. “This means that the ball is at the municipality and that is not the case. Some nuance is therefore in place.”
“We were not aware of this decision and the permit had not yet been requested,” says the College of Waalwijk. They were, in their own words, surprised by the message and find it very unfortunate. Because the organization of the Night of the Song of Life puts everything on the safety risks, it also seems to be partly the responsibility of the municipality. But that is not true according to the college.
According to them, more was going on, such as the permit application, staff and money. The municipality itself has not been able to play a role in this, so that the college was ‘surprised’ by the message. They find it very unfortunate.

The municipality does, however, admit that it is also difficult to guarantee safety, at a location such as Raadhuisplein. “But it now seems as if no major events can be organized in Waalwijk. In consultation and with cooperation with the municipality, that is still possible,” says the college.
The municipality emphasizes how much they want to bring larger events to the municipality. That is why they think it is extra unfortunate that the event has been canceled.
