Moving up the housing market remains difficult, senior broker in Assen also notices

At the moment there are waiting times of eight years at Actium. But that doesn’t stop Arends and she continues to talk to people. “This also shows the importance of thinking about the future ahead of time. Because you don’t just move with these waiting times.”

The senior broker therefore wants to draw people’s attention to the fact that this is a choice that you do not make overnight. “I visit people between the ages of 55 and 65. And they often think: ‘But I’m not moving yet.’ But it is all the more important that you think about it, especially because there is little supply and therefore long waiting times.”

And as it now seems, that flow continues to stagnate. But Arends notes that ‘people also want to stay at home longer.’ That is why she is looking for a suitable solution with Actium. “We are now going to look at how we can promote that flow. But also how we can let people live longer in an apartment if that flow is not possible.”

Housing corporation Actium therefore takes this into account when building new apartments. “We build them in such a way that people can continue to live at home longer. Such as with two bedrooms, a bathroom that can accommodate a walker and an elevator. We build a lot of new ones, but there is also demolition because those houses are too old. But against the question, we can hardly build against that.”
