Van der Poel misses victory, but gets another chance after rest day
NAPLES – In the eighth Giro stage there were again two Dutchmen who interfered with the possible win, but Mathieu van der Poel and Wout Poels had to settle for seventh and eighth place. In Naples there was a Dutchman on the podium, because Koen Bouwman was given the blue mountain jersey for the second day in a row. The 28-year-old curly haired man is also among the favorites in the standings after his phenomenal victory on Friday. So the big question is what will Bouwman do on Sunday in the very tough mountain stage with the final climb to Blockhaus (13.6 km at 8.4%)?
