Motorist fatal accident Sint Pancras drove under the influence and does not have a driver’s license

The 31-year-old motorist from Heiloo who caused a fatal accident on De Helling in Sint Pancras last Saturday, was under the influence of alcohol and does not have a driver’s license. The man was released this afternoon pending further investigation.

The police reports this to media partner Dike and Worth Central. “I can’t tell you much more because of the investigation, but soon after the accident it turned out that the man had been drinking and did not have a driver’s license,” said a police spokesperson.

Due to the investigation, it was decided yesterday that the man to hold longerbut now he has been released: “His release does not harm the investigation and there are no other reasons to detain him longer,” the police report.

However, the man from Heiloo is suspected of causing a fatal accident, driving without a driver’s license and driving under the influence. The investigation is expected to take ‘months’. All findings will then be sent to the Public Prosecution Service, which will determine whether further steps will be taken.

Flown out of the corner

The fatal accident happened on Saturday evening around 7.30 pm on the Helling. The driver flew out of the corner. Before he ended up in the ditch with his car, he hit a 45-year-old cyclist from the municipality of Dijk en Waard.

The cyclist died of his injuries. Several other road users were injured. The driver was freed from his car by bystanders and taken to hospital. The man was then arrested.
