The accident happened in a bend along the IJzer, between the Knokkebrug and the iron tower. The man drove in the direction of Diksmuide when it was overtaken by a van.
The motorcyclist turned out too much to the right, fell and was dragged a few meters under the van. The victim was first approachable but lost a little later and died on the spot.
