Motorcycle legends Randy Mamola and Kevin Schwantz immortalized in the streets of Assen

The street scene in Assen will soon be enriched with the names of motorcycle legends Randy Mamola and Kevin Schwantz. On Saturday, both drivers were presented with a tile in the center of the Drenthe capital.

Laying the tiles is an initiative of TT-Legends Walk of Fame. He wants to create a walk of fame straight through the Asser city center with tiles featuring illustrious motorcycle racers, one of them being the local racing celebrity Jaap Geerts.

Latest victories

Crowd favorite Schwantz won his last TT in 1993, Mamola last rode in 1985 as the first under the checkered flag.

Their tiles will be placed near Café Napoleon. They were also handed over there on Saturday evening.

Classic GP

This weekend the TT circuit is all about the Classic GP. Everything that is fast on two and four wheels, and has a history in Assen, can be seen. Schwantz and Mamola were in action on the track earlier in the day.

A special MV Augusta was also unveiled at the circuit on Saturday. A motorcycle that refers to the brand’s 35 victories at Assen. MV Augusta manufactures 300 motorcycles of this type, which is given the name MV Augusta Brutale 1000 RR Assen.
