Jorge Martin on pole in Valencia, Francesco Bagnaia 8th on the grid and his rival Fabio Quartararo fourth: here are the main verdicts of the qualifying for the Valencia MotoGP. Here where the double world game is played, for the highest step, between Bagnaia and Quartararo, divided by 23 points, and for the lowest step, with Aleix Espargaro who must defend the advantage over Enea Bastianini, on Ricardo’s Saturday Tormo rewards the French of Yamaha and the Spanish of Aprilia. Advantage not insurmountable, nothing definitive, but a small step towards the race. Quartararo’s absence from the front row is a good buffer for Bagnaia, not brilliant, but centered on his world championship goal, while Aleix Espargaro, on Aprilia, is 10th, three squares ahead of Bastianini, only 13th after being ousted from Q2 for a fall in Q1.

Cinquina Martin

Jorge Martin takes the fifth pole of the season: in 1: 29.621 the Spaniard of Ducati Pramac precedes Marc Marquez, very happy to have brought his Honda to 0.205 from the start to the pole, and Jack Miller, third at 0.213 after having also slipped in the phase highlight of the qualification. Second row for Quartararo, as mentioned (+0.279), then 5th Alex Rins (+0.319), who wants to end the Suzuki adventure with another shot of pride and 6th Maverick Vinales (+0.334), with Aprilia in the Constructors’ World Championship he wants to defend the 5 points advantage of the second place he has on Yamaha. To close the ten: 7. Brad Binder (+0.418); 8th, in fact, Bagnaia (0.428); 9. Johann Zarco (+0.481) and 10. Aleix Espargaro (+0.503).

I sin cautious, but there is

Bagnaia started with the ‘little arm’ in the sense that after the first time attack he was 12th, then he straightened the situation by taking a rather reassuring position with a Ducati that appeared quite nervous in his hands. He must keep his nerve, aware that the pawns that can hold back Quartararo, who is forced to win, are on the chessboard of the race: we are talking about the other two Desmosedeici in the front row, but also about Marc Marquez’s desire to do well.

q1 fatal to bastianini

Promoted by Q1 Maverick Vinales (Aprilia, 1: 30.090) and Alex Rins (Suzuki, 0.036), with Alex Marquez having a technical problem and Pol Espargaro falling to 2, like Bastianini, third at 67 thousandths behind Suzuki’s Spaniard, but slipped in a sudden and forced to run from the thirteenth pitch of the grid. So the other Italians: Franco Morbidelli will start 16th, Marco Bezzecchi 18th ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio.

free 4

In Free 4, not functional for the grid, Miguel Oliveira’s best time (1: 30.762) ahead of Quartararo (0.234), Martin (+0.282), Pol Espargaro (0.289) and Zarco (0.310), with Bagnaia 11th at half a second without taking risks.
