Television coverage of the fifth round of the season: live TV all weekend on Sky Sport MotoGP and streaming on Now. Qualifying and Sprint also live on TV8 on Saturday, while Sunday’s races will be broadcast free-to-air and deferred

The European two-wheel season is coming into full swing. Two weeks after the stage of Jerezin Spainfor the protagonists of the world championship of MotoGP and the other classes of MotoGP it’s time to get back on track right away. The fifth event of the year is French Grand Prixscheduled from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 May 2026 on the Bugatti Circuit Of Le Mans. It will be a very important weekend for everyone, also to understand the developments of their bikes after the day of testing held in Jerez a few hours before the Spanish race. We start again with theAprilia ahead in both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships. The RS-GP26 has been the most complete bike so far, especially with Marco Bezzecchiwho won the first three races and then finished second in Spain. The rider from Romagna, who however remained dry in three of the four Sprints contested, is leading the championship standings with only 11 points ahead of his teammate Jorge Martin. After two podiums in a row, the Iberian finished fourth in the last stage in Jerez where he still proved to be very competitive. Le Mans is a track that evokes fond memories for the two Aprilia riders, both winners here in the past but with the Ducati: Bezzecchi in 2023 with VR46 and Martin in 2024, the year of the world title, with Pramac. The Borgo Panigale bike returned to the top step of the podium in Jerez, but not the official one, but Alex Marquez for the team Gresini. A success that has helped the Spaniard regain his confidence, now seventh in the standings with just four points less than his brother. The reigning world champion Marc Marquez arrives in France, where however he has not won since 2019 at the time of Hondaafter a not very happy weekend in Spain which ended with a crash at the start of the race. Fifth overall, he is already 44 points behind the world leader and has yet to reach the podium this year in the Sunday races. Even worse Pecco Bagnaiawho after his retirement in Jerez is ninth in the championship, 67 points behind his friend Bezzecchi. For now, Ducati’s colors are best defended in the world championship standings Fabio Di Giannantonio. The Roman from the VR46 team, who returned to the podium in Spain, is in fact third, 30 points behind first place. Instead, it comes from a negative weekend Pedro Acostaonly tenth in Jerez with one Ktm appeared in difficulty. The Iberian is still fourth in the world rankings, 35 points from the top. As always, he will aim to improve Honda, especially with his home idol Johann Zarcowinner at Le Mans under water just last year for the team Lcr. He will also race in front of his own audience Fabio Quartararowhich however has yet to understand the new V4 engine of the Yamaha. The Le Mans Bugatti circuit, created in 1965 around the long track, home of the historic 24 Hours of motor racing, it has hosted the MotoGP championship on several occasions, becoming a fixed stop on the calendar only in 2000 after important safety improvements. 200 km southwest of Paris, the route measures 4,185 meters and with 14 curvesof which nine on the right and five on the left, follow it clockwise. It is a complete track on a technical level with two long straights, like the one in the pits shared with the configuration for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. There is also a nice mix of medium-high speed “S” curves and slower hairpins, all possible overtaking points. As always, on the track with the MotoGP during the French weekend Moto2 and the Moto3.
