Moto2 Misano: Acosta wins over Vietti. Arbolino is 4th

The Spaniard dominates the race from start to finish. Celestino’s excellent performance was not enough, following his rival for a long time. Tony limits the damage, but his gap to the world championship leader is now 34 points

The great escape is the mark of Pedro Acosta on the weekend of Misano. Running away from the marking of the opponents, first of all the generous Celestino Viettisecond on the finish line, the Spaniard took the San Marino GP from the Moto2. And by winning for the fifth time this season, the championship draw against Tony Arbolinogood fourth also behind Alonso Lopez. Now the advantage of the Murcian champion rises to 34 points. The other opponents are further away, like Jake Dixononly twelfth and now 65 points behind.

the race

Excellent start from Acosta, who overtakes poleman Vietti. Behind them is Canet square. Lap after lap, however, Arbolino climbs up, possessing a good pace. Tony moves into sixth position, passing first his teammate Sam Lowes and then Filip Salac. It wasn’t enough, however, to immediately get closer to the leading group, where, with 17 laps to go, Acosta made his move with fast laps. However, Vietti remains in contact, trailing by about six tenths. The same cannot be said of Canet, forced to retire due to a crash with 15 laps to go. The duel for victory is therefore restricted to the Red Bull standard bearer and the Fantic Racing driver: a real tug of war in the name of the fastest laps of one or the other.

the last laps

Tire degradation puts the protagonists in difficulty, as demonstrated by the various corrections. Seven laps from the end Lowes falls, while Acosta attempts a new breakthrough, gaining over a second on Vietti. It is the final checkmate in the duel for victory. Arbolino limits the damage by climbing to fourth position. Ai Ogura achieved an excellent fifth, ahead of his teammate Somkiat Chantra and Manuel Gonzalez, who dropped at the end. Well done Mattia Pasini, tenth in his return as a wild card.
