Jeffrey Herlings has won the Grand Prix of the Netherlands in the MXGP class. The motocross rider from Oploo was the best in the first and second moto and also won the qualification for this.

Herlings experienced a lot of opposition in Arnhem from the 18-year-old Belgian Lucas Coenen, who is second in the World Cup classification. Coenen went down in the first race, but fought back to second place.

Coenen was also on track in the second moto, but the experienced Herlings (30) managed to keep the young Belgian behind him. “I was lucky that the race did not last two rounds longer, I was at the end of my Latin,” Herlings puffed against the NOS.

World Cup leader Romain Febvre from France saw number two Coenen walk in in the rankings. The difference between the two is to go with three more Grands Prix, now 31 points in favor of Febvre. Herlings is sixth in the score. The next race is on September 7 in Afyonkarahisar, Turkish.

In the MX2 class, Kay de Wolf from Eersel also won the second moto after the first. In the World Cup he walked into the German Simon Längenfelder, who leads with 783 points. The wolf has 768.
