Manuel Neuer is the new record holder for most of the Bundesliga history gained since 1963. The 3-0 at Eintracht Frankfurt was the 362nd win in the 529th game for the record champion and FC Schalke 04. The 39-year-old goalkeeper Thomas Müller (36) did the same, who had left the Munich Vancouver in summer. The attacker even tried his 362 successful games in the upper house in 503.
“This is definitely cool. I’m happy to be the same with Thomas,” said Neuer after the game in the Frankfurter Arena at “Sky”. Neuer even extends again and expands the record even further by 2027? In the “Bild” podcast “Bavaria Insider” it was time to conclude that a new contract could not be ruled out this season, because “in the end only Manuel Neuer decides whether it will continue or not”, as the deputy “Bild” football director Tobias Altschäffl put it. Neuer himself said when asked what he said about possible victories in the Bundesliga at the age of 41 – from the end of March 2027 – that he wanted to “not think” so far.
The Keeper and Müller had been behind the long-time record holder and new predecessor at Bayern goal, Oliver Kahn. The former titanium had achieved 310 victories for Bayern and Karlsruher SC in 557 games. In Neuer, who is three years older than Müller, the fact that he has not spent his entire career at the most dominant FCB is added to the fact that he missed many games due to injury: 2008/09, 2016/17 and 2017/18 he fell out with midfoot breaks longer and after his skiing accident in December 2022 with a lower leg fracture almost a year.
