The Russian government has warned that massive arms transfers and the provision of intelligence to Ukraine, especially by the United States, are drawing nearer the risk of a direct confrontation between Russia and NATO. This was emphasized by Russian foreign ministry envoy Konstantin Vorontsov at a UN meeting in New York.
The US is not only supplying weapons to Ukraine, but is also providing key intelligence, according to Vorontsov, that makes the battle bloodier and longer. According to the Russian reading, the US government has directly engaged parties that participate in the war.
On Tuesday, the US government made an additional $625 million available to the Ukrainian armed forces. The sums being pumped into Ukraine are “historic” even for US observers. This year Washington already put more money into Ukraine than more than twenty years ago in all the ‘usual’ large annual expense items combined; Israel, Afghanistan and Egypt.
