The British singer and songwriter Morrissey canceled his upcoming concerts on the weekend, after a “credible threat to his life” became known. On his official Instagram channel it was said: “In the past few days there has been a credible threat to Morrissey’s life. Caution and in the sense of the security of artists and audiences, today’s appearance in Foxwoods was canceled. We thank you for your understanding.”
Threat of murder after bluesky post
Those responsible for the MGM Music Hall in Boston, where Morrissey was to appear on Saturday, also published a similar statement. “In the past few days there has been a credible threat to Morrissey’s life. Caution and in the sense of the security of the artist and band, tomorrow’s concert was canceled.”
Morrissey is currently at the beginning of his nude tour and last played on September 16 without incidents in the New York Radio City Music Hall.
The cancellation follows the arrest of 26-year-old Canadian Noah Castellano from Ottawa, who had threatened with an assassination at the Bluesky Social App on September 4. Under the name “Guy Who Gets Shot in the Head One Hundred Thousand Times a Day”, he wrote: “Steven Patrick Morrissey, if you perform in TD Place in Ottawa on September 12, 2025 at 9 p.m., I will be in the audience. And try to shoot you several times with a very large, illegally obsessed weapon.”
Despite this threat, Morrissey performed at the Cityfolk Festival in Ottawa. Castellano was released for a deposit of $ 5,000 and must currently live in his father’s house near Washington, DC. When asked by the newspaper Ottawa Citizen, he only explained: “I am not interested.”
Reimbursement of the tickets
It is unclear whether Morrissey received further threats or whether the cancellation was made exclusively from caution due to the known posts. The MGM Music Hall announced that all tickets are refunded at the respective sales outlets.
