More than 22,000 visitors at Cactus Festival in Bruges

Due to the corona crisis, the Cactus Festival has been canceled for the past two years. The public found their way to the Minnewaterpark again without any problems. “Saturday was certainly a great day,” says organizer Patrick Keersebilck.

“Except for a few hundred tickets, it was completely sold out and there was a lot of atmosphere.” In the end, 22 to 23,000 visitors were clocked in.

Cancellation at the last minute

The festival started on Friday with, among others, Meskerem Mees and Intergalatic Lovers. After that homegrown talent, Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant would basically perform together with Alison Krauss. However, their show was canceled at the last minute because the American singer was out with the flu.

The organization also received the news only an hour before the performance. “Everything was ready and everything was done to be able to perform anyway. But in the end it continues to work with people. Of course I understand the disappointment of people,” Keersebilck responds.

“expected more”

Also on Saturday, fans of different music genres got their money’s worth. There were performances by Coely and Sylvie Kreusch, but also by White Lies and De Jeugd van Nowadays. Franz Ferdinand’s Scottish rockers were allowed to close the second day of the festival.

“On Friday and Sunday we might have expected a little more, but there is a lot to do this summer due to all the postponed concerts.”

Finally, on Sunday, Blackwave and Supergrass were on stage at the Minnewaterpark. The 39th edition of the Cactus Festival will be closed by Balthazar on Sunday evening.
