There were no accidents in our province in the past year as a result of railway running. Six accidents have occurred at the level crossings, resulting in two deaths and one serious injury.
At the end of last year, another accident occurred at the railway crossing in Ardooie. A truck got stuck on the tracks. A train traveling at full speed could no longer avoid the truck and the occupant was seriously injured. Investigation later showed that the driver ignored the red light.
