Why does a dentist visit take so long?

We sometimes wonder: how can it be that waiting takes so long, while vacation flies by in a fraction of a second? Why does sitting in the dental chair seem to take ages and can the time pass so quickly with a nice meeting? In the interactive exhibition Time Will Tell is exposed on the basis of various experiments how the internal clock in our head works. Scientists from the experimental psychology department at the University of Groningen investigated this sense of time in our heads.

During the exhibition, visitors find out how well they experience time themselves. This interactive exhibition also goes back in time to the special laboratory of the Groningen psychologist Gerard Heymans (1867-1930). He was the first psychologist in the Netherlands to use test subjects to conduct scientific research. His experiments and instruments on, among other things, the sense of time resulted in major breakthroughs in psychology. The ‘high-tech’ exhibition spaces of Time Will Tell offer a contrast to the rest of the historically decorated museum. The exhibition can be visited until March 31. Reservations can be made via rug.nl/museum.

Waves in nature and in dance

On Saturday, dance company Another Kind of Blue shows the cyclical movements of nature in Cultuurhuis De Klinker in Winschoten. Choreographer David Middendorp investigates in the new performance wave with four pieces how technology influences these undulations of our existence.

The changing of the seasons, the waves in the sea, but also sound waves and signal waves. They come and go in a relentless flow of movement. Life is intertwined with these wave movements, it is a natural dynamic principle that also determines dance to a great extent.
