More and more Belgians are opting for organ donation after euthanasia: “One of the international leaders”

In 2024, thirteen Belgians donated one or more organs after euthanasia. That is the second highest number in twenty years. Belgium is also one of the few countries in the world where that is possible. Nevertheless, the number remains small: in total 371 Belgians donated at least one body after their death. This is today apparent from figures from UZ Leuven and Eurotransplant.
