The Girona fiefdom has experienced up to 61 goals this season, only behind the RCDE Stadium

Girona has added 10 victories at home this season, and has scored 35 goals

More than ever, in Montilivi, in the year of the return to the First Division, there has been a show. And goals, many goals. In fact, the Girona stadium is the second in the entire League that has seen the most goals, between those marked and those conceded by Míchel’s team. 61 goals endorse the feeling of the entire Girona public of having had a good time, every time he has gone to see his footballers. Only the RCDE Stadium, on the last day with the 3-3 against Almería, surpassed Montilivi, with 62 goals. The Santiago Bernabéu, for example, was third with 60. And the Camp Nou Spotify, the scene of the champion, only saw 41.

In Montilivi, throughout the season, there has not been a 0-0 scoreline, the result with which the previous season ended, in the play-off final against Tenerife. But Girona has been left without scoring three times, in three 0-1 against Celta, Barça and Atlético de Madrid, the nights when there have been fewer goals. The ones that top the list are the eight goals that were celebrated and conceded, as appropriate, against Real Sociedad (3-5) and Almería (6-2). 16 goals in 180 minutes. A madness in tune with Míchel’s proposal, lover of not speculating and being brave.

In addition to having fun, in Montilivi there has been joy, because of the three years that Girona has competed in the First Division, it is the one in which they have had the best results. Because the smile would not be worth if the marker was not positive. The people from Girona have added 10 victories together with a hobby that has pushed more than ever and that will do it again next year, with the small remodeling that the stadium will experience with the new extra tier in the south goal.

In the 19 games played at home, Girona has scored 35 goalsdivided into 16 different protagonists, and has conceded 26. The top scorer, of course, has been Taty Castellanos, with 10. The Argentine shone on Madrid night, playing poker that left everyone speechless. They are followed by Cristhian Stuani, with five; David Lopez, with three; Oriol Romeu, Riquelme, Arnau Martínez and Iván Martín, with two; and Reinier, Samu Saiz, Yangel Herrera, Borja Garcia, Viktor Tsygankov, Javi Hernández, Bernardo and Miguel Gutiérrez, with one. The other was done by Domingos Duarte, from Getafe, on his own. In fact, the impact of the Girona matches can also be seen in the general data, since counting home and away matches, Míchel’s team finished with a scoring record of 113 goals: 58 for and 55 against. They are only surpassed by Espanyol, with 121, and Almería, with 114. Madrid, once again, is behind, with 111. And we no longer say Barça, with 90. One more piece of information that demonstrates the spectacle offered by the people of Girona after promotion to the top flight. “The neutral spectator, if he sees our party on television, stops and looks at us. We have raised sympathy,” President Delfí Geli boasted, quite rightly.

And far from Montilivi?

Production drops a bit when Girona has to move: the rojiblancos matches have had 52 goals (23 in favor and 29 against) and five remained unmarked. Here there are already some other teams that exceed this balance: Almería (63), Espanyol (59) and Athletic Club (53). Sevilla, also with 52, matches it. And the differences are minimal with Madrid (51), Valladolid and Elche (50) and Barça and Celta (49).

If Castellanos has been the top scorer at home, as a visitor it has been Stuani, with 4. Taty made three; followed by Riquelme and Tsygankov, with two; and one of Samu Saiz, Arnau, Iván Martín, Villa, Yangel Herrera, Aleix Garcia, Miguel Gutiérrez, Juanpe, Couto and Reinier. The other two were from Athletic, own.
