December 18 – 11.31pm – PARIS

It was a real top-level match, with various twists and turns, a double counter-comeback, two poles, four goals for PSG, two for Monaco, and above all a mistake by the referee who did not penalize an obvious foul, very dangerous, by Singo on Donnarumma who left the field with three cuts to the face, under the right eye. The former grenade should have been sent off and wasn’t even booked. In the Principality, Luis Enrique’s team nevertheless won the three points with personality, moving to +10 not only on Monaco, but also on De Zerbi’s Marseille who will be able to reduce the gap at the beginning of next year. While PSG, always unbeaten in the Ligue, will face Monaco again in Doha for the Super Cup on January 5th.

cuts

PSG dominated the first half, immediately hitting the post with a cross shot from Hakimi (4′), logically taking the lead in the 24th minute with 19-year-old Doué, his third consecutive goal in the last three games. Hakimi served it from the right. All this, however, after a few minutes earlier, in the 17th minute, there had been a very questionable episode on the opposite side. Launched into the net, the former Granata Singo found Donnarumma coming out to close him. The defender clumsily attempted a lob, and failing to get over it, he hit him in the face with the sole of his right boot, planting his studs on the blue’s cheek. Donnarumma was left on the ground with three cuts on his face, which were then stitched up in the locker room. Singo, who had been booked previously, still had to be sent off directly. And instead, despite the VAR, the Ivorian was pardoned by the match director Letexier. While Donnarumma, who left the field on his own two feet, was replaced by Safonov. And at the break he asked the referee for explanations in vain.

goals

In the second half, Letexier conceded a generous penalty to Monaco, following a percussion with Akliouche’s shot ending up on Marquinhos’ arm, but deflected by the Parisian Pacho. However, penalty for the referee, coolly converted by Ben Seghir (7′). In the 15th minute the home team doubled their lead, with Embolo doing well to divert Akliouche’s cross from the left into the net. But Dembélé restored the balance in the 19th minute, collecting Kohn’s rebound from Ruiz’s powerful shot in front of goal. Luis Enrique then introduced Lee first and then Ramos and obtained the new advantage, with the former’s corner and the latter’s header (38′). And after another post hit from the edge of Lee in injury time, and the expulsion for protests by the Monegasque coach Hutter, Dembélé also made it 4-2, leaving midfield (97′).
