Jeremiah Green, drummer and co-founder of Modest Mouse, has stage four cancer. Already on Monday (December 26) the mother and a friend of the musician shared this information via Facebook, on Wednesday (December 28) the members of Modest Mouse also commented on it. It is not yet known what type of cancer it is.

Since Modest Mouse’s inception in 1992, Green has worked on every production except Good News for People Who Love Bad News (2004). The most recent album “The Golden Casket” was released in 2021.

Good vibes for the drummer

Founding member and vocalist Isaac Brock via Instagram: “Hello. Some of you may have heard it already, but I thought it would be good to share the news straight from our camp. Jeremiah was recently diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. So far everything seems to be going well and having a positive effect. Jeremiah and I believe in the power of positive energy. So if you would be so kind as to send “good vibes” (to quote Jeremiah) to Jeremiah and his family, that would be great. Thank you and all the best, Isaac Brock”

Tour canceled due to the diagnosis

“Please send healing vibrations for my son Jeremiah Green who is battling stage 4 cancer. He’s so strong and so brave and perseveres,” the musician’s mother posted along with photos of her son.

Radio presenter Marco Collins also discussed his friend’s illness on social media on the same day. At the same time, Collins wrote that Green had canceled the 25th anniversary tour of the second studio production, The Lonesome Crowded West (1997). It went on to say: “Despite the stage 4 diagnosis, his prognosis is good! Plus, his oncologist is a big MM fan (so Jeremiah already has the doctor on his side!). I am sending him nothing but love and healing energy! Get well soon, buddy. We all keep our fingers crossed for you!”

Modest Mouse will perform in Chile, Argentina and Brazil as part of Lollapalooza South America in March 2023, although it’s unclear if Green will be attending the shows.
