Esther Sedlaczek can often be seen as a presenter on ARD. She was also in action at the home European Championships – and received unpleasant news.
Esther Sedlaczek can be seen again and again as a presenter on ARD. Together with Bastian Schweinsteiger, the 2014 world champion, she analyzes football games. The 39-year-old was also regularly seen at the home European Championships in the summer. However, she also has to put up with a lot for her work, as she revealed in the podcast “Vorstadtgefrische”.
In an interview with Heike Otto, Sedlaczek explained: “Especially during times of tournaments like the European Championships, when news comes like: ‘You belong behind the stove.’ They came very often. Really disrespectful messages that shocked me. I actually thought that we were really all such losers.”
Sedlaczek emphasized that she was “really sad” about this kind of mindset. She doesn’t worry about it for long, she just thinks that it can’t be. “For me, they are losers who think like that,” Sedlaczek continued. She added: “You can only do that to feel better. And there must be a reason why you need that now, in this case to want to belittle a woman.”
Sedlaczek explained that she was fortunate in her career to have been supported by male colleagues even when she was starting out at Sky. “I was always given new tasks and given the chance to do them,” said the moderator. She added that she had also experienced mare bite, but never wanted to be that way herself.
In addition to professional topics, Sedlaczek also spoke about her private life and admitted: “I’m worried about the future of my children. I’m worried about the safety of my children. I’m worried, like all parents.” However, she also wants her children aged three and five not to have to worry about political and social issues for the time being.
