Ministry sees no bottlenecks after halting oil deliveries via Druzhba

BERLIN (Dow Jones) — The Federal Ministry of Economics does not see any bottlenecks in Germany after the suspension of oil deliveries through the Druzhba pipeline. A ministry spokeswoman said it had become independent of Russian pipelines. So far, Kazakh oil has flowed to Russia and then through Poland to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline.

“Since the outbreak of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, we have always had to reckon with a unilateral oil supply freeze. That’s why we have prepared consistently. And that is now paying off. The market is well prepared, which guarantees security of supply in Germany. There are currently none Indications of bottlenecks. The refineries in Leuna and Schwedt are running stably,” said ministry spokeswoman Beate Baron.

According to the Polish concern PKN Orlen, Russia no longer supplies oil to Poland via the Druzhba pipeline. This also affects deliveries of Kazakh oil to the PCK refinery in Schwedt. According to Baron, the PCK refinery is currently supplied entirely via the Rostock-Schwedt pipeline. In addition, amounts of oil would come through the port of Gdansk.

There are supply contracts with Kazakhstan, but she cannot provide any information on delivery quantities. Now we have to wait and see how the transmission through the Druzhba pipeline will continue. A reliable statement on Russia’s actions cannot be made, said the spokeswoman.
