Minister Liesje Schreinemacher for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation will attend a mourning ceremony in memory of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on behalf of the government in Abu Dhabi on Monday. On behalf of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, she will offer her condolences to his relatives on the loss of the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Emir of Abu Dhabi.

Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan died Friday at the age of 73 and was buried with family that same day. Schreinemacher will convey his condolences during a meeting with Mohammed bin Zayed, who was elected the new president of the UAE on Saturday. The head of state is also Emir of Abu Dhabi. The UAE and the Netherlands are celebrating 50 years of bilateral relations this year.
