1. FC Heidenheim has introduced its third new signing after relegation from the Bundesliga. Winger Paul Hennrich, who signed a contract until 2030, comes from TSG Hoffenheim’s second team. Before the 21-year-old, FCH had already signed Oualid Mhamdi from SC Verl and Marcel Costly from FC Ingolstadt.
Hennrich has been trained at TSG since 2020 and played most frequently with 66 games for Hoffenheim II. But he also appeared on the pitch for the professionals once: on December 15, 2024 in the Bundesliga at Borussia Dortmund. According to reports, Hennrich will receive a transfer fee of 1.5 million euros plus bonuses. In addition, the Sinsheimers are said to have secured a resale clause.
CEO Holger Sanwald explained the German U20 international’s move: “Paul has undergone excellent training at TSG Hoffenheim over the past few years and still has great potential as a young player. We are convinced that with his quality, his mentality and his ambition, which he demonstrated in the 3rd league last season, he is an excellent fit for our path. We are very pleased that such a great talent from TSG Hoffenheim has decided to join our FCH.”
Hennrich, who was one of the most valuable professionals in the 3rd league with a market value of 1.2 million euros, added: “The move to 1. FC Heidenheim is a new chapter for me in my young professional career. I am looking forward to this exciting challenge, the team and the fans. The jump to the 2nd Bundesliga is something special for me and I would like to use this opportunity to develop further in my sport and contribute to the team’s success.”
Hoffenheim’s sports director Frank Kramer also emphasized that the club had fulfilled Hennrich’s wishes with the transfer. “We had a clear plan as to how Paul’s path should continue with us. We didn’t want to put any obstacles in the way of his desire to take what he saw as the next step. With 1. FC Heidenheim we found a very good solution for all sides and therefore agreed to the change.”
