‘Not enough attention was paid to concerns’
According to the CDA minister, too little has been listened to residents’ concerns in recent years. He wants to change that.
He also expresses appreciation for the municipality of Wijdemeren, which, according to him, has responded to the national call to create shelters.
The arrival of emergency shelter for 110 asylum seekers has been postponed until May for safety reasons.
Several days of protest and police intervention
In recent days there have been several demonstrations against the shelter in the partly vacant town hall in Loosdrecht. The police had to intervene repeatedly.
Fireworks were set off and eggs were thrown, among other things.
Thirteen arrests, investigation ongoing
Thirteen people were arrested at last night’s latest protest. One of them is suspected of having deliberately run over the foot of a riot police officer with a car.
One person is being held on suspicion of attempted manslaughter, three for insult and one for disrupting public order. Eight others were arrested for failing to leave the area.
Most people arrested come from Hilversum and Loosdrecht. In addition, people have also been arrested from Bilthoven, Utrecht and Veghel.
