One of the five soldiers who were involved in the accident with an army vehicle in Hoogersmilde in Drenthe on Thursday evening is still seriously injured in hospital. A Defense spokesperson said.
A second soldier was also taken to hospital for treatment. The other three were treated for their injuries at the scene.
The accident happened on the site of a sand-lime brick factory on the PR Roelfsema Rzn road. According to a spokesman for the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the vehicle with the soldiers fell 3 meters from a slope. An investigation is underway into how the accident could have happened. The site in Drenthe is regularly used for exercises, according to the Ministry of Defence.
